Psalm 30:6-7 Why is it, Lord, that I am willing to trust in my own prosperity

Psalm 30.6-7

As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.” By Your favor, O LORD, You made my mountain stand strong; You hid Your face; I was dismayed.

Why is it, Lord, that I am willing to trust in my own prosperity and do not recognize that all things are from You; that it is You who make my mountain of resources stand strong? Why must You hide Your face from me before I am willing to admit that I am but nothing without You?

Psalm 30.4-5 Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints,

Sing praises to the LORD, O you his saints, and give thanks to His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, and His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Lord, all Your people join in praise and thanksgiving for the outpouring of Your favor upon us. To be called as a company of saints, joined in praise and worship, is joy everlasting.

Psalm 30.1-3 I will extol You, O LORD, for You have drawn me up

I will extol You, O LORD, for You have drawn me up and have not let my foes rejoice over me. O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You have healed me. O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.

Lord, it never ceases to amaze me that when I cry to You for help and healing, Your promise is that You will look to the one who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at Your Word, and then Your answer is immediate and direct.

Psalm 29.3-11 The voice of the LORD is over the waters;

Psalm 29.3-11

The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning. The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!” The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. The LORD gives strength to His people; the LORD blesses His people with peace.

It was prophetic this morning, Lord, that I was moved to seek You in the old stone wall. Lord, keep that portal open today. Help me to see You in all Your creation, to see Your hand moving in power and majesty. Help me to write as David wrote, of Your awesomeness displayed.
