Exodus 20.1-2, 12
And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery…Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.”
Lord, how do I support others and teach them to see the importance of this instruction? Teach them to see that this is a precept of great significance, especially as our society begins to suffer from the ravages of broken families? Not just divorce but from the dissolution of the recognition of the importance and function of marriage?
How can this precept be lived out by someone who does not know who his father is, or someone who is not being a father to her own children? How are Betty and I called to teach this principle?
