Psalm 46.1--3 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Pella, IA
Psalm 46.1--3 To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

What a wonderful picture here, Lord. As all is in turmoil all around us, the very foundation of our lives, it seems, collapsing under our feet, all that towers over us is crumbling upon us, the affairs of the world eroding all that we have depended upon – You are here, a very present help in time of trouble. A very present help: Oh the comfort and assurance in that phrase.
