The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.

Psalm 50.1-6 A Psalm of Asaph.

The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest. He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge! Selah

Lord, You continue the theme of Your constancy, perfection, and sufficiency. You are the just and righteous judge who calls out the faithful.

And how did I make a covenant with You, Lord; what sacrifice did I make? It was and is a sacrifice of self, a pledge of obedience, a laying down of my will and taking up of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It was and is the declaration that You are Lord and Master of my life. It was and is the bowing of my knee, the confessing of my mouth that You are Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. It was and is a determination to live my life, through the power of the Holy Spirit, in obedience to Your Word, in every aspect of my life.
