And God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. ... You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
Numbers 30:2
If a man vows a vow to the LORD, or swears an oath to bind himself by a pledge, he shall not break his word. He shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
Am I a man of my word? Is my yea, yea and my nay, nay? Do I profane the Name of the LORD by breaking my promises? Is it not implicit in my claiming to be a follower of Christ, a Christian, that I should be considered as one who is faithful to not dishonor the Name of the LORD?
